Swishy Skirts

Just a quick post today, as I'm drowning in my sewing room. The Homeschool Historical Ball (Historical Homeschool Ball?) is coming up MUUUCCCHHH faster than I anticipated. I think I sew better under pressure though. Those couple of weeks before a deadline man, I'm pumping out dresses coats and breeches left and right. After April 10th my whole year of secrets shall be revealed, and ya'll will be able to see what Bascha, Ruth, and I have been concocting :D Can't wait!

I do have pictures of an outfit, so here ya go :)

I love this shirt, it's the perfect length for tying up, but I can tuck it in as well. And it's striped with cute little cuffs. :) Care picked it up for me last VV run they did. The skirt is one of my staple skirts, a present from Mimi and Poppy that's made of scuba diving suit fabric. It feels crazy good :) And I'm wearing my petticoat since I was going to ECD the day I wore this outfit.

Photography Friday || Caroline

Impromptu photo shoots with your sister are the best aren't they? Hehehe. I don't know if ya'll feel this way or not, but sometimes, making the effort to get dressed up, or wearing something nice, or even just doing your hair can make you feel better. And we are testing this week, and it's pretty outside, so Care wore a very cute spring dress. And I got to take pictures of it! :D

3D Sweater

This was supposed to have posted yesterday. Idk what happened.

Now typically I tend to wear vintage inspired outfits...mainly like 40's 50's kind of stuff. But I don't want to feel like I just wear things that represent that era, because although I do love that fashion, I like other weird stuff too. Like old lady clothes particularly. Just when I look at my decorating tastes, or take a glance in my closet and think, hey, I'm pretty consistent here, I end up buying something like a cow teapot, or huge hoop earrings, or old lady sweaters. But ya know, I'm cool with that. I mean I wear oil slick nurse clogs to work with bobby socks, and what can get much funkier than that? :P

I do try to be picky though, and not just buy everything that's unique. Some things you just know right off the bat-that's the one! And this 3D sweater was one of those :). It's for sure unique, and I absolutely love it!

What do you think of the sweater? Do you like it's uniqueness or not so much?

Latta's Kilts & Petticoats (Picture Heavy)

Don't all the posts on here end up being "Picture Heavy"? I suppose I'm a little trigger happy.  But-at least I know where I get it from- Mama! Because you see the pictures in this post are pictures she took. :)

A month before the Celtic Festival out at Latta Plantation (for those of you who don't know, that is where we do historical reenacting), Caroline and I joined "Latta's Kilts & Petticoats" which is the Scottish Country Dance group that Bascha teaches. We had a blast, though I'm afraid we weren't the most cooperative students. And Bascha agrees :P. She's was an amazing teacher though, and managed not only to keep us in order during practices, but she pulled off the demonstrations at the Celtic Festival amazingly :D Three cheers for Bascha! Also cheers for my mom and dad who let us do this, and cheers to Mrs. Hope who managed the music for us at the event :)

Latta had a great turn out too, over 2,000 people came out for the 2015 Celtic Festival!

Kilts & Petticoats!!!!!
So that's all folks! The videos are on Bascha's phone, and I'm not sure at all how to get them into this blog post. The other videos are too big, and they don't run smoothly. But I had a great time dancing and I'm very grateful to have gotten to be a part of it :)
