Latta's Kilts & Petticoats (Picture Heavy)

Don't all the posts on here end up being "Picture Heavy"? I suppose I'm a little trigger happy.  But-at least I know where I get it from- Mama! Because you see the pictures in this post are pictures she took. :)

A month before the Celtic Festival out at Latta Plantation (for those of you who don't know, that is where we do historical reenacting), Caroline and I joined "Latta's Kilts & Petticoats" which is the Scottish Country Dance group that Bascha teaches. We had a blast, though I'm afraid we weren't the most cooperative students. And Bascha agrees :P. She's was an amazing teacher though, and managed not only to keep us in order during practices, but she pulled off the demonstrations at the Celtic Festival amazingly :D Three cheers for Bascha! Also cheers for my mom and dad who let us do this, and cheers to Mrs. Hope who managed the music for us at the event :)

Latta had a great turn out too, over 2,000 people came out for the 2015 Celtic Festival!

So that's all folks! The videos are on Bascha's phone, and I'm not sure at all how to get them into this blog post. The other videos are too big, and they don't run smoothly. But I had a great time dancing and I'm very grateful to have gotten to be a part of it :)

Flower Printed Overalls

Let's just say I need Kyla to start taking my pictures again :P Taking my own pics without a tripod just isn't working lol. But the overalls are working fantastically- in fact I've worn them three days straight. :)

Overalls...I guess I'm just being very adventurous lately haha :P. Because yes, I bought and wore a pair of overalls. I've actually had the overalls since last summer, but due to the fact that they are enormous, I threw them in the "to be altered" pile and kind of forgot about them. But then out of the blue I had the idea to tie the back of the overalls together, which then brought them in enough so that you couldn't look down the legs from the waist. And though the fit isn't perfect by any means, it's good enough for me :)

I love this shirt too-it's light weight, light colored and has lots of little polka-dots. Perfect for spring and summer :) I'm sure I'll be getting a lot of use out of it!

"Spring Has Sprung"

As much as I love winter, there is something about the warm weather months that's absolutely fabulous. The dawdling daylight, the fresh breezes and warm dirt, the flowers (because flowers are amazing), the kids playing outside, screens on open windows and all the robins gracing our backyard with their presence.

And as much as I'd love to write a big long post all about why I love spring,  I'm going to try and keep it mainly to pictures today. If you're wondering where I was over the weekend we were dancing at Latta :) I've got a huge post coming up for you about that, full of pictures and videos too! But until things slow down a little here is Tuesday's post, with pictures of what it looks like here :)

To start out, we had one of the most beautiful sunsets I think I've ever seen. It was orange and yellow mainly and bright as all get out, literally the sky looked as if on fire. I walked all the way up the road to try and get a more treeless picture of it, and I stayed outside marveling in it's beauty 'til it disappeared.

Right now we have daffodils, forsythia, butterfly bushes, a little bit of vinca, Japenese Magnolia, and camelia blooming. We have so many different flowers growing in our yard, I can't wait for them all to start blooming :)

a yard full of flower petals

I hosted a little tea party with some girlfriends and made mini cupcakes in flower wrappers :) And I painted my nails :)

the puppies are getting so big!

Do you have many flowers blooming where you live? If so, which are your favorites?

My Fashion Inspiration

Now normally on a Thursday I'd post a outfit, right? And I actually have an outfit, but I'll just wait a few days and post it later. Today I thought it would be interesting to do my style icons, who who inspires me fashion wise.

Mrs. Claus. Wait what? Did she just say the make believe character Santa Claus' wife? Yes...I did. The old lady? Yeah. But there's just something about her that I always liked. She had a kind round face with pink cheeks and a smile. She looks womanly and content, and likes singing, knitting, baking cookies and giving kisses. She isn't worried about looking like a super model, or losing weight. And she wears a lot of red and I like red. :) Ever since I was a kid I remember seeing her and thinking, I want to look like Mrs. Claus when I grow up. Lol! But it's true, and her hair is absolutely fabulous, in an effortless kind of way :D

My second inspiration would be the mother figure on the TV series the Waltons (Michael Learned). We don't even have TV, but whenever we're at our grandparents we will watch that show. There is something so simple, feminine, and almost un-noticable in the clothing that Olivia Walton (Michael Learned) wore that I really like. Little patterns, soft warm colors, and almost always an apron. And I love her hair, she really liked a french twist. It was never a huge towering shiny lump of hair piled on top of her head, but natural, whispily voluminous and slightly resembling to the hair of  Mrs. Claus :P.

Do you have people that inspire your fashion choices? If so, who are they?
