Rambly

This feels good. This is how I like to blog. The laptop is sitting on one of the kitchen counters as I'm in the midst of cooking an Indian beans and rice dish that involves a lot of curry. Right now I'm sauteing the onions and I accidentally just sent a spatula full flying across the kitchen. Because it's totally a good idea to cut a raw onion that's in hot bubbling oil with a thick plastic spatula. Totally. And because I'm lazy, not overly lazy, but ya know, I'm not gonna deny it completely, I haven't cleaned the onions up yet. I'll let you know when mom finds them :P (I will clean them up eventually).

But rambly posts, I like those. And, shocker, posts without pictures lol. I mean I guess I could throw in a pretty flower, or haha, the onions on my kitchen floor, but sometimes word pictures are just as nice, even if they're less eye catching. Now if I wrote in big font and it stuck out then maybe that would be eye catching, and I might do that if I think you're getting bored. We'll see :P

But rambly posts must have some sort of direction, so this is the post plan. To tell you about what posts will be coming up next. For starters I'm back from the hot hot hot hot hot hot hot state of ALABAMA. Whew! Did I say hot? :P And I have an SD card full of pictures and then a cellphone full as well. FYI, I'm drinking Raspberry flavored Tropicana lemonade out of the container. It was almost empty. Now it's all empty. :D But I got off track, the Alabama post. And even if I have to wait a while to post it, I want it to be big, but to be complete and not just posted when I've got 15 minutes of free time sort of thing. (That's what outfit posts are for :)) But I will say it was amazing and I'm so thankful for the opportunity that we could go :)

Second post coming up is going to be birthday portraits of Elizabeth, my little sister who just turned 9. :) Just cleaned up the onions. Told you I would :) Elizabeth is currently playing dollhouse and singing a song she made up called "We love the childs". And the second photography post will be some pictures I took a while back of Caroline and Ann Marie. I wanted to experiment with the editing of those so I haven't quite gotten around to finishing them up yet.

Thirdly, I'm getting my list together of things I want to enter into the Dixie Classic Fair this year. And once I get my list together I'm going to post it on here to keep myself accountable for all the things I will be making because whoop whoop, my sewing machine is FIXED and I brought it home from the repair shop today!! :D But I want to enter cakes in this year and something that I've been dying to try (on non ice cream cakes :P) is painting on fondant. When I get to that point in the test runs (because there will be test runs....I haven't had a successful fondant recipe yet haha), if it turns out I'll make a tutorial, and if it fails I'll make a blog post so we can laugh at it together and learn from my mistakes.

But now dinner is almost ready so I'll wrap up and get on with the evening. And one more thing, I'm wearing the cutest new pajamas that have butterflies all over them :) The pj's are teal, with pink piping and pink buttons and little butterflies that have pink and yellow and green flowers and swirls on them :)

Much love,
Theresa

The Paint Brush Themed Outfit

I feel very artistic in this outfit....the only thing lacking is a beret. I do own two, one black and one red that I've worn with this skirt before when I'm feeling very parisian chic. But they're wool and it was hot outside so I opted to just go with a flower instead :D

This is like waaay cool and makes me so happy when I see it :D And it does it's job too, I dropped my phone the other day at Target and it bounced and landed flat on the screen but no dings or scratches or shatters!!
Shirt: VV
Pin: thrifted
Belt: VV
Skirt: Chicwish (gift)
Purse: eBay
Shoes: Dillards (gift)
Hair Flower: Glitter
Phone Case: Amazon
Sweater: J Crew, have had in the closet for years :)

And speaking of paints here are some watercolors I did recently. It's fantastic for stress relief and there's something so mesmerizing about putting water on the paints and watching it swish and swirl together. (photos of the paints were taken with my phone camera)

I am very inspired to paint more fruit after that watermelon btw way....lemons limes and oranges anyone? :)

Random

Just a few random photos from a random Monday afternoon. There's a church up the street from us that we used to attend and sometimes I go up there and sing and play the piano, and that was where I was trying to teach myself the play the bass. I'm afraid though that I haven't got any progress to report :P It's a lot more difficult than it looks. And my pinky finger is weak. Very weak :P.

I've been trying to exercise a bit more, that is before I had a broken toe. It's going on week 4 now and it's not quite better but I'm hoping it's on the mend. As soon as it's healed I want to start walking again and maybe even work up to jogging :) That will be interesting. :P

SQUEALS!!! Are my rain boots not like the cutest things ever?? They're like jellies but in boot form and they have little bows I love them! My coworkers tell me I look like a "barbie doll" and the shoes do kinda look like the shoes you put on dolls.
Boots: Burke Outlet

And big news, I'll be in Alabama for the rest of this week! My little sister and I are going with Kyla and some people from church to a national pro life event that's held once a year all over the country. I'm bringing my camera so be prepared for lots of photos!! (Both silly and serious).

Much Love,

Butterfly

This is the oufit I wore when my coworker and I went to give a little speech to the kids at the Library earlier this week. It's all cotton, so it was really comfortable in this high 90 degree weather we've been having in Charlotte lately. It's  been so humid too, my grandparents just got back from a trip to Utah where it was much hotter but it was dry heat which is apparently much nicer to bear than the high humidity.

The little thing we did at the Library was so fun :) The kids were a little younger than we were expecting (they were like preschool aged) but we still had a blast. And the librarian had us all do an ice cream dance where we mixed the ice cream fast if we liked chocolate icecream and we mixed it slow if we liked strawberry. It was great :D

I also learned this week (or maybe it was last week) that coral is actually a good color on me. :) Which is nice cause I really like this shirt :)

My hair looks a tad bit frizzy at the ends and not brushed all the way out, I did that because of how humid it is here, if I do a complete brush out it doesn't hold as long :/

Blouse: VV
Skirt: eShakti (care's :P)
Pin: thrifted
Hair butterfly: idk, a gift from Grandma :)
Does anyone have vintage curl tips for the summer? Any particular product you think holds against high humidity pretty well?

Green Plaid

Found this in drafts the other day, I wear this dress very regularly. It's one of my faves :) This outfit is very light hearted and springy, and works for a variety of occasions. I tend to wear it to work a lot, with an apron of course :)

I look so exhausted in these pics.  I'm not even sure why I was so tired (still am lol).

Now this outfit is such a cute happy one I hate to bring the mood of the post down with a sad story. But I can't look at this outfit without being sad because of that gorgeous pin. And it's totally my fault and I should stop harping on it and move on, but I ruined the pin. Beyond repair. Sometimes I forget to remove my jewelry when I'm getting undressed at night. So the clothes might end up on the floor or on the end of my bed with a pin or two still attached. And because it's probably inside out and forgotten, I guess I didn't think to look for it before I put it in the washing machine. *CRINGES* It was my favorite pin too, and my most treasured piece of jewelry. As you can imagine, the washer did it's dirty work, and every single little inlaid piece of beauty was dumped out of the shell of the pin. And all the little pieces washed away through the holes in the washing machine. :/ I'm soooo sad about that pin. But I have learned to check my clothes thoroughly before washing them.

An Evening at McGuire

A few outfit photos and then friend photos from the night we went and saw the Charlotte Symphony out at the power plant. A lovely evening, the performance was excellent as always, and thousands and thousands of people and hundreds of boats came to watch. (It was held on a big grassy area by the lake).

That evening had it's twists and turns, and it just so happened that Caroline stepped on my toe in such a way that it broke (I was barefoot of course :P). Ow. But thankfully it's getting a little bit better, though I kinda feel like I have cabin fever cause I can't go doing anything beyond walking a little bit :P

I also got seriously dehydrated again, and I'm beginning to wonder how much of the summer I'll be able to handle. Other life updates would be two new eShakti dresses and a lovely watercolor paints phone case :) And I've made lots and lots and lots of cakes :) Oh, I almost forgot, speaking of work, next week a coworker and I are going to be going to one of the libraries near here and giving a little talk to the kids about the history of Baskin Robbins and ice cream :) I'm pretty excited about that.

Introducing....My Phone :D

I told ya'll I'd take some pictures of my new phone so here they are :D It's been a little bit since I got it, but the excitement of having a new phone hasn't quite worn off yet. Even though this is not my first phone, it's my first phone, phone, and it's kinda like having a first car. :P Very exciting :D

It's an iPhone 5, and I bought it off craigslist. It was a repaired phone (I didn't know it at the time) so the little home button can spin around in circles. I actually really like this because I can have the little square be a diamond, which looks so much cooler than normal :P.

The only thing that I'm not so fond of on this phone is the auto correct. On my tablet (Android) there is a check spelling/auto correct, but it gives me the option of changing it to the "correct" word. On the phone however it automatically changes the word. Now this isn't necessarily bad, but if you're in a hurry and didn't check to see if it changed anything or not before you hit send, you will end up telling your Mimi that your brother went to tractor supply with God (supposed to be Grandpa), and a bunch of other things I've since forgotten. :P

The camera is way better than I anticipated it being. Neither mama's phone, nor dad's can take very good pictures. Now my phone camera has nothing on the big camera, but it takes a pretty decent photo for a cellphone I think. Obviously the quality isn't as good blown up, but ya know :)

That's all for today, though I've scheduled a blog or two for this upcoming week. Xoxo,
Theresa
